['gəʊlsn], Benny, amerikanischer Jazzmusiker (Tenorsaxophonist, Komponist), * Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) 25. 1. 1929; spielte u. a. bei L. Hampton, D. Gillespie und A. Blakey und gründete 1959 mit A. Farmer das »Jazztet«. Golson zählt zu den wichtigsten Tenoristen des Hardbop. Als Komponist trat er u. a. durch die Jazzstandards »I remember Clifford«, »Whisper not« und »Are you real« hervor.
